The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) recently linked to UL’s SPOT database from their website to help members (Manufacturers, Architects and Designers) identify and source products that can contribute to their LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) projects.
SPOT is a free online product database that contains more than 100,000 products searchable by Master Format number, manufacturer, certification programs such as UL GREENGUARD and ECOLOGO Certification, and sustainable building credits of green rating systems such as LEED, Green Globes, Fitwel Certification and others. SPOT helps design professionals identify healthier, more sustainable products for green buildings during the design and specification phases.
Additionally, UL is partnering with global certification programs and organizations to expand the number of products on SPOT in terms of product categories and regional programs. SPOT already includes Energy Star, Cradle to Cradle, Safer Choice, EPEAT and Carpet and Rug Institute Green Label Plus certified products. Global organizations such as the Taiwan Architecture & Building Council, CTC in China, EPD Italy and others have also entered into agreement with UL to include their program’s products on SPOT, giving users more access to products that are available in regions across the globe.
